In just over a year, PolishedAgency has transformed Rovente Pizzeria into one of PDX’s most loved eateries with over 10K engaged followers on Instagram—with growth continuing to soar during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using strategic social engagement, Rovente has become more than a place to get a good slice. The nickname of its owners, “the Pizza Boys”, has become a loved and respected entity across Portland and beyond, and this bold and lighthearted personality shines through in every piece of content the company’s Instagram shares out.

The follow/unfollow method was used to organically grow Rovente’s Instagram and it has garnered a loyal following in Portland, Vancouver WA, Beaverton, Eugene, and even New York. When using this method, PolishedAgency carefully seeks out users who were likely to connect and engage with Rovente’s account. Profiles for food bloggers, other pizza restaurants, residents of Portland and surrounding cities, and self-proclaimed pizza fans are of high interest and comprise most of Rovente’s 10K+ following. This method has attracted new customers that have increased sales and overall awareness for Rovente.
“Get Sliced” giveaways are hosted once a week on Rovente’s Instagram feed to boost engagement and to show their genuine desire to give back to their customers. These posts attract hundreds of likes, comments, and follows each week, and it’s a low-cost method for the company to broaden their following. Since giveaways have proven to be immensely successful for Rovente, they’ve expanded to co-hosting giveaways with local influencers as a form of cross-promotion and gaining a new set of followers.
But why do Rovente’s 10k+ followers stick around and why does the company’s Instagram continue to grow? It’s all about authentic content that captures the attention of their followers, who primarily fall between the 25-34-year-old age range, and mostly reside in the Pacific Northwest. The company’s captions are witty, bold, and utilize current, popular phrases with a pizza-centric twist that has become a signature for Rovente. Attention to relevancy, inclusion, and media contributes to “the Pizza Boys” persona that’s often shared with their followers' Instagram stories. This strategy includes the use of popular memes and movie covers that are updated to include a pizza-related image, caption, or pun.
